I am really proud that I found that connection between business and human life.
There are only three things that you need to do in order to achieve better life. First, dig bravely into the business world to find out how managers use business knowledge and skills to manage world’s best companies. Second, do the same what businesses do on the market but in your private life. And third, sit down and relax to enjoy fantastic life!
For over 10 years, I have been involved in many areas of business education which helped me to find the connection between business and human life.
To begin with, I went to college to learn about business administration and management. Then, I attended the graduate school where I focused on studying global business journalism and conduct academic research in business communication (mainly corporate communications). I also love reading and writing about the business world.
How did I discover the connection?
After joining the job market, I started delivering corporate communication courses to employees and managers from various industries like hospitality, IT and banking, etc. Later, I had an opportunity to join one of the international schools and got involved in international business education. Since then, I have been teaching IBDP Business Management and Cambridge Business Studies in two international programs administered by The International Baccalaureate (IB) and University of Cambridge. At the same time, I have been doing more research on learning and teaching practices in international business education.
In the meanwhile, I have been involved in a couple of investment projects and various business ventures in addition to my heavy focus on theoretical aspects of running a business entity. In short, my business subjects educate about making sound business decisions so companies can become successful in generating returns for various interest groups such as owners, investors, workers or local communities over a long period of time. From time to time, I also advise friends and acquaintances who are entrepreneurs, managers, directors and CEOs doing business consulting.
But, the most interesting fact is that throughout my over-a-decade-long career of studying, researching and teaching business management, I have discovered something very intriguing that, simply speaking, actually applies to all of us.
Examples of connection between business and human life
In reality, the world’s biggest multi-national companies listed on the American stock exchange (e.g. Johnson & Johnson, Wal-Mart) and well-known private enterprises (e.g. Trump Organization, IKEA) are very-well managed. One of the primary reasons for their success is that their managers and directors use proven business tools, theories and techniques over and over again to make business decisions that benefit those companies.
When we look at another example from outside of the business world (but within the area that still concerns large groups of people), we can see that government officials in Singapore and China use the same of business tools, theories and techniques to run their countries as business people do to run their successful businesses, therefore providing sustainable economic growth and social development. Singapore offers exceptional business environment while China has achieved tremendous economic transformation and growth. Both countries managed to achieve their successes thanks to reliance on economic and business theories.
Everything in the modern world, not only businesses and governments, but also our personal lives, seem to run these days around the same business laws and principles.
After all those years teaching business management, I have realized that there are more similarities between a company and human life than you and I could possibly imagine in the first place. The more business books and business media articles I read, the more persuaded I was that there is a strong link between making good business decisions that results in becoming a successful business organization and making good life decisions that results in living a successful fulfilling life.
It is because what we do on daily basis sounds very alike with what companies do on daily basis. Business organizations increase profits while we increase our savings by earning more and spending less, companies choose the best suppliers while we buy the freshest fruits and vegetables, businesses choose environmentally friendly technology while we try to buy products which are made of recycled materials to reduce pollution, businesses train workforce while we spend fortunes to send our children to good schools and extracurricular activities.
How did I apply business management to my personal life?
After putting some thoughts into it and finding out the specific areas where business problems are quite similar to human problems, I have slowly started applying everything that works in the business world in a particular situation into my personal life.
The result was that for the last several years, I have been constantly using business knowledge and management skills which I have learned in both my academic and professional careers.
Whenever I had to make important life decisions such as buying or selling a house, moving to another country for work or hesitating whether or not to borrow money from a bank, I was relying on business tools and theories to analyze the situation first in order to come up with reasonable conclusions – to finally make the right decision. And, to be honest with you, it worked!
Various business methods that I have used were ultimately helping me and my family to increase our wealth and quality of life. As we, as human being, go through different stages of life, we try to make the best out of each period. However, we are not perfect. But with proven business management practices, that were originally designed to help managers run companies successfully, we can use the same business management practices to better manage our lives not only to be better off financially, but also develop into more capable human beings regarding our decision-making capabilities.
How can business management help with managing daily life?

Have you ever tried to put your life together in a way that everything always works perfectly and you never hit any setbacks? Have you ever wondered, if there are better, faster and easier ways of doing things? We all did.
Here are just a few examples to start with that can easily illustrate how we can benefit from using business management in our daily lives:
