I seriously pay attention not to waste any food in my kitchen. That is why I came up with a few tips which I usually follow in order to get better at using appropriately and efficiently all the food produce that I purchase in the stores.
1. Do not waste food by letting the products in your fridge expire. Check the fridge and kitchen cabinets a few times a week searching for ingredients that may soon start to decay.
2. Do not waste food by buying more than you really need. Think about how many portions you are going to cook during the week, and buy reasonable number of products when you do shopping.
3. Do not waste food by ordering more portions than you can handle. First, order one portion, and then, if you are still hungry, you can always order another meal or two.
I am still not perfect at not throwing any food away. From time to time, I still find rotten stuff in the cabinet under the sink, especially half-broken carrots or overripe avocados are my nightmares.
And I truly hate those money-and-food wasting discoveries.
