It is never too late to quite smoking cigarettes, and here are the most important benefits of doing so.
– You will save a lot of money.
– Food will taste better, and you will have sense of smell again.
– Your breath, hair and clothes will not stink anymore.
– Your teeth and fingers will not be yellow.
– You will have lots of strength to climb stairs and exercise.
– You will not have to leave smoke-free areas anymore.
– Your look will improve, for example, your skin will look younger, no more premature wrinkling of your face, gum disease or tooth loss.
– Your heart rate and blood pressure will drop, as well as the carbon monoxide level.
– Your blood circulation will improve and your lung function will increase (coughing and shortness of breath will decrease), so you can start exercising without feeling exhausted after just a few minutes.
– You will live 10 years longer because of lower heart attack and stroke risk, and lower risk of cancers of the mouth, throat, esophagus and bladder.
– ‘15 years after quitting smoking, your risk of coronary heart disease will be that of a non-smoker’s’ (Tobacco Control: Reversal of Risk After Quitting Smoking. IARC Handbooks of Cancer Prevention, Vol. 11. 2007. p 11).
The sooner you decide to quit smoking, the better for your health and for the people around you as non-smokers should not suffer in public. You may be saving lives instead of killing people.
