Powerfoods

Powerfoods are packed with nutrition to keep you healthy for life. You may not even know about that but you probably have many powerfoods, the healthiest products nature has to offer, in your kitchen.

Powerfoods should make up a big portion of your daily diet. The healthier the food you eat, the better your body will be – you will build muscles and lose weight, strengthen bones, lower blood pressure, fight cancer, improve your immune system and fight heart diseases.

Here is the list of my favorite powerfoods which I have incorporated into my daily diet over the last couple of years.

Nuts. Eat all kinds of nuts, such as almonds, walnuts, pistachios, pecans, macadamias, Candlenuts, Chilean hazelnuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, Malabar chestnuts, Mongongos, peanuts, pine nuts, Yeheb nuts. Nuts help with building muscles and fighting food cravings, obesity, heart disease and cancer.

Seaweed. Seaweed is eaten in large quantities not only by Asians, but also by all sushi lovers around the world. This sea plant is a rich source of minerals such as magnesium, iron, sodium and calcium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. It is extremely low in fat and calories, but great for keeping your body’s pH balanced.

Beans and legumes. Including soybeans, chickpeas, pinto beans, navy beans, kidney beans and lima beans. Beans will speed up building muscles and burning fat by regulating digestion.

Green vegetables. There are lots of green veggies on earth, but the healthiest ones include spinach, broccoli, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, kale and bok choi. All of these powerful green veggies help to neutralize free radicals that speed up aging process, and are great to prevent cancer, heart disease, stroke, obesity and osteoporosis.

Garlic. Garlic’s health benefits undoubtedly rank as the most popular herbal remedy thanks to the compound called allicin. It prevents blood clots, fights infections, prevents cancer, fights common colds, reduces blood pressure, improves cholesterol that may lower the risk of heart disease, prevents Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia. Garlic also helps to detoxify heavy metals in your body.

Ginger. This powerful superfood helps with a variety of ailments such as nausea, inflammations or low immune system. You can make a delicious ginger tea by chopping the ginger root into small pieces, and adding it to boiling water. Then, add a squeeze of lemon juice for some flavor.

Berries. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and wolfberries protect your heart, enhance eyesight, improve memory, reduce stress, boost immune system and prevent cravings. They carry powerful levels of antioxidants that are all-purpose compounds helping your body with fighting heart disease and cancer.

Avocado. Avocado is high in healthy monosaturated fatty acids, extremely nutritious (Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin E, Potassium, Folate), loaded with fiber, and nutrients called Lutein and Zeaxanthin, which are incredibly important for eye health. Eating avocados regularly can help with lowering cholesterol level, prevent cancer and lose weight.

Olive oil. Olive oil has been used from ancient times. It lowers cholesterol and boosts the immune system; helps with obesity, cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure, digestive problems; prevents osteoporosis; fights infections; enriches milk supply in breastfeeding mothers; prevents kidney disorders; helps in maintaining strong teeth and eliminating stretch marks after surgeries. Olive oil contains monounsaturated fat and vitamin E.

Coconut. The oil and milk derived from coconuts are commonly used in cooking and frying, as well as in soaps and cosmetics. Coconut oil contains 3 different fatty acids (Caprylic Acid, Capric Acid, Lauric Acid) that will make your hair shinier and skin naturally healthier.

Whole grains. The healthiest grains include brown rice, black rice, millet, buckwheat, teff and quinoa. Consumption of whole grains has been linked with a significant decrease in risk factors for cardiovascular disease, as well as in preventing spikes in blood sugar.

Stevia. It is a 100% natural zero-calorie sweetener that is considered to be sweeter than white sugar (sucrose). If you use more Stevia in your kitchen, it will help with high blood pressure and diabetes, indigestion, upset stomach, weight loss, tooth decay, fungal and bacterial infections, and skin conditions.

Tea. In the Far East tea has been considered as a key to good health, happiness, and wisdom. Drinking tea on regular basis, such as green tea, black tea, white tea, oolong tea and pu-erh tea will help with fighting cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol level and clogged arteries.

Eat powerfoods every day, if you want to balance your diet, get more energy and lower your medical bills.
