10 Ways to Save Money on Health and Hygiene

While there is a saying that we should never compromise on our health (even given the tough economy these days), we can always look for ways to trim unnecessary expenses and save on health and hygiene – health care and hygiene costs.

1. Cut your own hair. If you are a man, hairstyles for guys are not particularly complex. Invest in the haircutting kit and ask your friend or wife to give you a simple haircut.

2. Quit smoking. Giving up smoking is not only a great way to save money, but also an amazing solution to improve your overall health.

3. Wash your hands to prevent diseases. Truism. Simple yet effective. Wash your hands a couple of times every day.

4. Take a shower at the gym or swimming pool. That is a great idea to save on water at home for those of you who work out regularly and have a gym membership.

5. Buy drugs in online drugstores. You can browse an extensive online catalog of health products and medications, and have the drugs delivered directly to your home. You can also compare prices between different ePharmacies.

6. Use medical insurance to buy medication. If you have a public or private medical insurance, check what sorts of drugs the insurer covers. You can purchase some basic drugs for free with your social insurance card.

7. Buy hygiene products in larger containers. It applies to laundry detergents, washing powders, dishwashing liquids, soaps, etc. Typically, larger packaging means lower average costs (unit cost) for a product.

8. Find a personal trainer on YouTube. This is for people who want to take care of their physical health but do not want to spend lots of money on an expensive gym membership. You can find a countless number of You Tube channels with professionally developed training programs. In this way, you can practice during the most convenient time without leaving home, however I strongly recommend to exercise outdoors. You can also watch my YouTube channel about business while working out at home. 😀

9. Dental floss. It is one of the best ways of preventing tooth decay. If you often forget to floss every day, consider leaving dental floss in several places around the house where you spend time in the evenings. You can buy dental floss in drugstores or in health & personal care stores like Watsons. Proper prevention allows you to save lots of money on dental visits which tend to be very expensive.

10. Start running. This one is self-explanatory.
